Pink Pills Dubbed as 'Female Viagra' Now Available

Women will now have the opportunity to boost their sex life, thanks to a new over-the-counter pink herbal pill, dubbed as 'female viagra', a recent study finds.

Lady Prelox, which the drug is called, were created following the success of the little blue pills that treat erectile dysfunction in men. It is currently being sold at high-street chain Holland & Barrett in the United Kingdom. However, the price of the pill, which needs to be taken twice a day, has been the biggest concern of most customers. A pack of 60 little pink tablets costs £37.95 or almost $63. Its makers, Pharma Nord claim a French pine bark extract called Pycnogenol improves poor circulation that is linked to a weakened sex drive.

Dr. Graham Jackson, chairman of the Sexual Advice Association and a cardiologist at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals in London, said the circulation theory behind Lady Prelox may prove correct. "We know that in men, sexual dysfunction is mainly a vascular problem. We don't have any concrete evidence of this in women yet, but I suspect there may turn out to be a link." On the other hand, Andy Heeps, a obstretician and gynecologist said he isn't convinced.

"Female sexual dysfucntion is a complex area. There is no single cause and there's no single magic bullet." Dr. Jackson also said that the pink pills worked on the basis that desire was already there. "These aren't aphrodisiacs. If you're not turned on by your partner, no amount of tablets will help." There has not yet been any news as to when the pills will be made available in the United States.
