Some people may still feel hungry after they have already eaten and there are some reasons why this may be so, according to a new study.
A recent study from Yale University found that one of the reasons people still feel hungry after they have already eaten is because of their regular consumption of sodas, iced teas, and other sweetened drinks that are very high in corn syrup. A previous study from the University of California at San Francisco claimed that fructose can trick the brain into craving more food even when they are already full.
Similarly, eating too much canned foods may also contribute to those hunger pangs. Many canned foods are high in chemical bisphenol-A,or BPA, which the Food and Drug Administration has stated is a chemical "of some concern". Frequent exposure to BPA can cause abnormal surges in leptin. Researchers from the Harvard University claim this leads to food cravings and even obesity.
Other than this, researchers from the University of Cambridge followed 6,764 healthy people for almost four years and found that those who ate just 300 calories for breakfast gained almost twice as much weight as those who ate 500 calories for breakfast. They have found that eating a big breakfast makes for smaller rises in blood sugar and insulin throughout the day.
A study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition found that people who drank one cup of black tea after eating high-carbohydrate foods decreased their blood sugar levels by ten percent for two and a half hours after the meal. As a result, they are also more likely to stay full for longer and had fewer food cravings.
