Queen Elizabeth II officially turns 90 on April 21 but, the Head of the Commonwealth will also have a knees up on June 11. In celebration of Britain's longest-reigning queen, here are 10 facts that pretty much sums up her life as a monarch.
1. Queen Elizabeth was crowned as queen when she was 25 years old. She reigned when King George VI died in 1952 and was coronated in Westminster Abbey on June 1953, Metro News reported.
2. Queen Elizabeth has her own train. Queen Elizabeth was honored with her own train in 1977 in celebration of her Silver Jubilee.
3. Queen Elizabeth is the head of the state of 15 Commonwealth countries. It includes Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Papua New Guinea, St Christopher and Nevis. Also, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Tuvalu, Barbados, Grenada, Solomon Islands, St. Lucia and The Bahamas are ruled by the monarch.
4. Queen Elizabeth supports over 600 charities. Queen Elizabeth sponsors almost everything, from Battersea Dogs & Cats to the English Table Tennis Association.
5. Queen Elizabeth considers Prince Phillip as her "strength and stay" during her reign, as per USA Today. Prince Phillip, on the other hand, endearment to Queen Elizabeth include "sausage" and "cabbage."
6. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip are the first couple who celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary in the Royal family. Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh celebrated their 60 years of marriage in 2007.
7. Queen Elizabeth has her own secret signal, "handbag." According to rumors, Queen Elizabeth uses her handbag as an indication when she wants to leave a dinner or she's tired of talking to someone.
8. Queen Elizabeth loves dogs. In fact, Queen Elizabeth has 30 Corgis since her reign and made a new dog breed, "Dorgi." From British Royal Family's website, she has 8 Dorgis, a product of her Corgis and Princess Margaret's dachshund, Time cited.
9. Queen Elizabeth's "monochromatic outfits" are intentional. "You have to be able to see that figure in a lemon coat and hat from far away," Hugo Vickers, author of "Elizabeth, The Queen Mother," told the New York Times.
10. Lastly, Queen Elizabeth celebrates her birthday twice. Aside from official birthday on April 21, she, too, marks her born day on June 11. The day is believed to be a day with good weather, the perfect complement to Trooping the Colour, her birthday parade.
