Illegal Baby Names: Judge Says 'Cyanide' Baby's Name Is Contrary To Law

While you may have the directive to name your baby, you should take a step back before giving your little one an illegal baby name. A judge just ruled that this baby girl's name is contrary to law.

Good Housekeeping reported that a judge issued a ruling declaring the names chosen by the mother for her twins as illegal. Well, the names "Cyanide" and "Preacher" may not fare well with many moms, but for this Wales mother, she believed they were the perfect choices.

Negatively-Viewed Name Could Lead To Harm

Justice Eleanor King said that while Preacher may not be so bad, Cyanide was clearly out of the question. King said that naming the now 8-month-old girl known as Cyanide can bring emotional harm to the child when she grows older.

"It is hard to see how ... the twin girl could regard being named after this deadly poison as other than a complete rejection of her by her birth mother," said King. The ruling was to protect the child's welfare and was in the best interest of the child.

The Reason Behind The Name

The mom considers Cyanide as a pretty name. Her justification for choosing Cyanide was that it was the poison that killed Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels.

She feels that this will have positive implications on the girl. In addition, she also said that as the mother, she has the right to name the child.

But There's More To The Story

Woman's Day reported that the twins were said to be conceived of rape. The twin babies also have three half-siblings, all of them placed under foster care due to the mother's incompetency. She had a history of mental illness, drug abuse and also alcohol abuse.

A previous injunction was issued, which prevented the mother from registering the babies' names. Now, Justice King's ruling may put an end to the issue. King decided that it would not be the mother who should name the babies but, their half-siblings.
