At first glance, little Isabelle looks like an ordinary girl, but she is the brilliant and brave girl who saved her mother's life when she was just two years old.
The incident happened in 2009, when Isabelle's mother, Jo Keeling, collapsed after suffering from a life-threatening anaphylactic shock, a severe allergic reaction. Without hesitating, the little girl dialed 999 and provided her name, phone number and residential address to the paramedics.
Inspired by the incident, Isabelle's mother Keeling, a police officer from Bournemouth, Dorset has written a series of books to spread awareness about the need for teaching young children managing emergency situations early.
These books revolve around two characters, Izzy and Ollie, (named after Isabelle and her younger brother Ollie) in different emergency situations like calling an ambulance, safety of car seat belts, running away from home and dealing with strangers.
"When Isabelle called the ambulance in 2009 people were calling her a genius when in fact it was something all children should know," Keeling told Daily Mail. "As a mum and a police officer I taught her to remember her name and address by using the 'Frere Jacques' tune. We had practised using the phone together before and played a pretend game where I called an ambulance after her little brother was ill.
"She had also watched an episode of the Tweenies just a day before I had the reaction which must have triggered her memory."
According to the mother, it is mandatory for parents to teach their young kids basic things like name and phone number as early as possible.
"If, like I was, you were at home with only your young children, you may be relying on them for assistance one day. It would be tragic if parents had not considered teaching their children a basic emergency response simply because they considered them too young to understand, or incapable of doing so. My daughter is living proof!" she wrote in a statement posted on her website.
Her first book is available with all online book retailers and also at her website izzyandollie.com.
