Song Joong Ki Hopes To Steer Away From Cute Roles After ‘Descendants Of The Sun’

Song Joong Ki immediately joined the roster of Hallyu stars in Korea after his successful appearance in the hit Korean drama "Descendants of the Sun." The 30-year-old actor shared in a recent interview that he hopes to steer away from his cute role as Capt. Yoo Shi-Jin and portray a cold character.

Song Joong Ki's success in the movie and TV industry did not happen overnight. Instead, the "Descendants of the Sun" actor took at least eight years before he reached this level of success and fame in Korea and in various parts of the world.

The KBS drama "Descendants of the Sun" played a huge part to Song's success, as his role as Capt. Yoo Shi-Jin successfully charmed the hearts of many viewers across the globe. However, in a recent interview with Korea Herald, Song Joong Ki admitted that he hopes to steer away from his cute role after the show.

"I want to play a character that is cold. I think there are sides of me that are like that," he said.

Song Joong Ki admitted that he is a fan of Edward Norton and he hopes to star in a thriller. The "Innocent Man" actor also shared that his upcoming movie "Battleship Island" is a dream come true for him.

"I really wanted to do a period piece set in the Japanese occupation era. With this film, I've cleared one longtime goal," added Song.

While Song Joong Ki admitted that he wanted to break free from his cute roles, the Korean actor revealed that he does not want to abandon his pretty-boy image. Instead, he wants to maintain his looks while working on improving himself as a person and as an actor.

It isn't such a wonder how Song Joong Ki was able to captivate the minds and hearts of the audience, as even his "DOTS" co-star, Song Hye Kyo recently admitted to falling for the actor's charms, reports Korea Times.

"Song Joong-ki played his role so attractively, which even made my heart flutter," she admitted.
