"Sense8" Season 2 casting news reveal that Aml Ameen abruptly left the Netflix series in the middle of production. According to Deadline, it is not yet clear why Ameen suddenly decided to leave the show but several sources claim that the actor had some conflict with executive producer Lana Wachowski.
The publication notes that Ameen and Wachowski's conflict began during the table read in Berlin for "Sense8" Season 2. Things between the two worsened as the cast and crew were filming in India.
While creative differences were being cited as the possible reason for Ameen's sudden departure in "Sense8" Season 2, several fans noted on the possibility that Ameen was a transphobic actor. In Jamie Clayton's tweet, several fans debated on the possibility of this since Wachowski was a transgender, reports Decider.
Clayton, however, addressed the rumors and clarified that she never said anything about the conflict being transphobic in nature. The "Sense8" actress instead asked her fans and supporters to be happy for the changes in the series.
Aml Ameen played the role of Capheus "Van Damme" in "Sense8" Season 1. UC San Diego MFA acting graduate Toby Onwumere will be taking over the role for Season 2. It remains to be seen whether Ameen's previously filmed scenes for Season 2 will be re-shot or not. However, due to the complexity of production, several reports claim that it is unlikely to be re-shot.
