"Person of Interest" Season 5 will serve as the series finale after executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman shared that the show has been cancelled on CBS. In a recent interview with io9, the executive producers hinted that fans should prepare for intense scenes in "POI" Season 5.
"It's a bloodbath," said Jonathan Nolan.
When asked about the possibility that "Person of Interest" would also follow that of "The 100" controversy, the showrunners stated that they were never afraid to kill any of their characters. As viewers can remember, "The 100" caused quite a lot of stir after killing off one of its lesbian characters, Lexa.
"We've never shied from killing off our characters, and this season is no different. Our team does not make it out intact," added Nolan.
Nolan promised, however, that Root and Shaw will still be "treated with the utmost respect" and given the right honor that these characters deserve on "POI" Season 5. The CBS sci-fi drama will also premiere with the Samaritan winning against team Machine.
Meanwhile, TV Series Finale also reports on a possible reboot after "Person of Interest" Season 5. In an earlier interview with Plageman, the showrunner hinted that the ending may still be used to work on a reboot.
"The ending, I thought, was really satisfying - and still ever so slightly open-ended, so that if someone, someday wanted to reboot this thing, or have a Chapter 2 of some sort, it wouldn't be out of the question," he said.
"Person of Interest" Season 5 premieres on May 3 on CBS.
