Instead of gathering positive reviews when it came out online Thursday, Supreme's Nike Air Max 98 collection angered many fans wanting to grab a pair during the first day of release. Many netizens were disappointed that they were not able to purchase the sneakers because it was highly in demand.
Complex said the sneakers collection released in four colorways "was gone in mere minutes" after being made available on the web. Twitter became the avenue for many to vent out their frustrations of not being able to grab a pair.
"Missed supreme 98s wanted the snakeskins smh should make my students' parents chip in and cop resell it's only right," read a tweet from user Delly Ralph. Some even included memes of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson along with their social media posts.
According to Kicks On Fire, the four colorways of the collection include red/white, all-black, and beige snakeskin and navy and white. Despite differing in color, these sneakers reportedly has the same patent leather and a common lettering on the side of the heel.
In addition, Highsnobiety noted that the Supreme touch on the Air Max 98 has made Nike fans excited with the release of the collection. This rare collaboration was even questioned by many who did not quite believe that the pairing would happen.
The same report that when the reports were verified and confirmed, a lot of people were amazed by the sneaker collection that presented "a polyurethane midsole equipped with a full-length dual pressure Air Sole unit." Aside from these design details, Highsnobiety said that iterations on red, black and blue colors were also highlights on the footwear.
A pair of these new shoes sells for $181.45 dollars on the Supreme website. The online shop, however, has indicated that all stocks of the sneakers have been sold out.
