A week after Prince's death, a man claiming he is the love child of the singer surfaced prompting heir investigators to look into the matter. What is at stake is his $300 million fortune which he reportedly did not entrust to anybody through a will.
Daily Mail reported that a still unidentified man contacted Heir Hunters International and presented himself as a genuine heir of the singer. He was described as a man in his 30's and hails from Prince's home state Minnesota.
Information revealed in the same report said that the probable heir was the son of the Purple Rain singer to a woman he met in the 1980s. The surfacing of this love child has been very timely to the court filing of Prince's sister Tyka Nelson asking that she be the person in charge of his estate since there was no will left behind by the singer.
According to Scallywag and Vagabond, Nelson and Prince's other half siblings are asking for the claim on his fortune since Minnesota law dictates that in the absence of a will, the estate of a deceased can be shared by his or her brothers and sisters. However, if the claim of the love child is true, Prince's siblings will end up not receiving a dime.
But proving that you are Prince's son would take a long process, Daily Mail said heir investigators would need to determine if the papers presented by the claimant are genuine. From then they would demand a DNA test to be conducted.
Heir Hunter International partner John Hilbert also disclosed that there is another person who has come forward with a "legitimate" claim on the fortune of the singer. Hilbert said this individual says that he is the "offspring of Prince's father."
An earlier Parent Herald report highlighted that the untimely death of the singer did not allow him to file in court papers on the turnover of his assets. In cases like this, the law dictates that the fortune will be divided among his spouse and children.
The problem with Prince's case is that he has been divorced twice and has no children with his ex-wives. Parent Herald said his only son with Mayte Garcia died when still an infant.
