HP Chromebook 13 vs. MacBook Air 2016

According to NewsFactor, HP is targeting the market that was previously dominated by MacBook Air by developing HP Chromebook 13 that comes with a sleek design. Just like Apple's MacBook Air, the new HP Chromebook is lightweight and fast.

Per CNET, the HP Chromebook 13 has an all metal body made of brushed aluminum that is merely 12.9mm thick and it only weighs 2.86 pounds (1.29 kg.) making it very portable and impressive from what you can expect in a slim 13-inch laptop. Meanwhile, MacBook Air is 17mm thick and weighs 2.96 pounds (1.34 kg).

There is no doubt that with this impressive feature HP offers in their HP Chromebook 13, it will be a close competition when MacBook Air 2016 arrives. The new line of MacBook Air is expected to be released in June.

HP Chromebook 13 comes with sixth-generation Intel Core M processor with a 3,200x1,800-pixel resolution. It charges via a tiny USB-C port, which is inspired from the more pricey Chromebook Pixel. HP Chromebook 13 will start at $499, much cheaper than Chromebook Pixel and MacBook Air.

MacBook Air's Edge Over HP Chromebook

MacBook Air is a smart and powerful laptop, aside from its sleek design and built. You can almost do anything with MacBook Air. Unfortunately, HP Chromebook has a simplified computing environment built around Google's Chrome Web browser.

Users will be restricted to cloud-based apps, including Gmail for email, Google Docs of the online version of Microsoft Office for productivity and services like Netflix and YouTube for videos, CNET notes.

Will HP Chromebook 13 successfully steal the market that was once for MacBook Air?
