The dynamic duo Bompas & Parr has outdone itself as it introduced a new trend in speed. The duo came up with a speed dating trend wherein participants would sniff each other's armpit to find their perfect match.
According to Mirror, Bompass & Parr came up with a speed dating event wherein participants would sniff each other's armpits in order for them to find their perfect pair. Though it may seem absurd, there's actually a catch.
The participants were asked to cover their head with a paper bag to add mystery to their identity. The participants would then use a plastic cup to aid them in sniffing the armpit. After participants would then rate each other and come up with a scorecard.
"Romancing the Armpit" may seem bizarre, it is actually backed by science. It was mentioned that the individual's specific scent plays a vital role in every relationship's chemistry. The body's MHC content influence the individual's preference in looking for the perfect mate.
"Our body odour is largely influenced by Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) molecules, which are genetically determined and linked to the immune system," according to the Bompass and Parr website. "Experiments have shown that opposites attract; we tend to judge potential sexual partners as more attractive if their MHC composition is different from our own. Further, MHC is also linked to sexual preference, so differences in body odour are detected and responded to on the basis of an individual's gender and sexual orientation."
"Romancing the Armpit" became a huge trend, but some participants were disappointed. One female participant told RT that the blind armpit sniffing test proved that people can sometimes be shallow in coming up with a perfect date.
"There was a lot of smelly people. Only one person I liked the smell of and I've just seen him and I don't think he's attractive," the participant told RT.
