‘No Man’s Sky’ Release Date, News & Update: Hello Games’ Sean Murray Reveals Video Game Almost Cancelled; VR Support Possible

Gamers almost didn't have the chance to play "No Man's Sky" as Sean Murray recently revealed he nearly cancelled the video game. The Hello Games managing director unveiled he practically decided not show "No Man's Sky" trailer at the VGX Awards 2013 because of the poor reaction he got from his friends.

The Negative Response

In an interview with IGN, Sean Murray explained he first showed the "No Man's Sky" trailer to his pals and got a negative response, according to PlayStationLifeStyle. However, Geoff Keighley, the event organizer, told him he should proceed with his plans as he secured a slot for "No Man's Sky" teaser into the show.

It turned out, the trailer of "No Man's Sky" got positive reviews and a lot of praises from the viewers at the VGX Awards 2013. However, after a few weeks, Sean Murray almost cancelled "No Man's Sky" again as Hello Games' office was seriously damaged by a heavy flood.

Team Work

Even if Sean Murray and his team have backed up works of "No Man's Sky," some exertions were wasted and lost. "I think if we hadn't announced the game -- I nearly backed out of it," he said.

"And then had been flooded, it's hard to know... I think we might have canned No Man's Sky," Sean Murray continued. He, too, described that they were losing hope for "No Man's Sky" as they started feeling "unsure of it."

In fact, there came a point where they questioned themselves "what they were doing?" while creating "No Man's Sky." However, the flood turned to be an inspiration that made his team eager to finish "No Man's Sky," Game Spot reported.

The entire team, composed of 10 people, worked together to clean the office and develop new PCs and other things that need to be fixed. To be motivated, Sean Murray told his team that they've gone through a "crappy" situation, but they should look forward when they revealed the full "No Man's Sky" at E3.

'No Man's Sky' VR Support

Meanwhile, Sean Murray also hinted the possibility of "No Man's Sky" with VR support. He said "No Man's Sky" would be a really good fit" to have Virtual Reality, especially while exploring the space.

"I think VR, in general, is incredibly exciting," Sean Murray told IGN. Although the VR support is not yet confirmed, he believed that there is a big chance gamers can play "No Man's Sky" through the said device.

"No Man's Sky" is set to be released on PlayStation 4 and PC on June 21 in North America, June 22 in Europe and June 24 in the U.K. What can you say about Sean Murray's revelation? Write your comments below.
