Indian Teenager Dies After Accidentally Shooting Himself While Taking A Gun Selfie

An Indian teenager has died in a freak accident after shooting himself in the head as he was taking a gun selfie. The gun was a loaded .32 calibre pistol owned by his father. This is just one of the latest selfie-related death incidents.

Ramandeep Singh, 15 was from Shiv Nagar, according to Metro. He attended Guru Harkishen Public School. The Straits Times reported that police have "identified 16 dangerous selfie spots in Mumbai and asked the local council to erect warning signs and deploy lifeguards."

Indian Teenager Died In The Hospital

The Telegraph reported that Singh was apparently taking a gun selfie with his elder sister. However, he pulled the trigger of the gun when he should have clicked on the photograph. The chief of police Manoj Kumar said via The Telegraph that the pistol was normally kept a wardrobe.

Singh's parents were not at home during the accident. He died from injuries in a private hospital in Ludhiana, Punjab two days after the incident.

According to The Straits Times, Mumbai police in January "moved to crack down on dangerous selfies after a man drowned trying to save a girl who fell into the sea while snapping one." The Guardian called 2015 the year of dangerous selfies, taking note of some that happened in India.

In January last year, three Indian college students were killed by a train on the road to Agra after they tried taking a selfie with it while one survived. In March 2015, seven young men drowned in Nagpur after the boat that they were posing on one side from capsized.
