Since Disney announced that High School Musical 4 is in the works, fans have been wondering who will play the new leads replacing the well-loved East High alumni. While it's obvious that Zac Efron as Troy Bolton or Vanessa Hudgens as Gabriella Montez cannot return as major characters, there are some roles that may possibly stay. Bart Johnson is banking on getting his role back as the head coach of East High Wildcats by posting his audition with the hashtag, #coachboltonforcoachbolton.
In the fifty-second video uploaded on YouTube, Bart Johnson is seen running on the fields, skipping with a jump rope and boxing in the gym while the familiar High Schoo Musical tune, "Now or Never" plays in the background. In between the rounds of exercise, he holds a script, as though preparing for the role. The camera then zooms in a coach's whistle then fades outdoors to a shot of Bart setting up his gear for the "audition." He delivers his only and closing line, "Hi, it's Jack Bolton and I'm auditioning for High School Musical Number 4 for the role of....Coach Bolton."
He had more words in his caption, saying that he hasn't heard from the High School Musical production if he'll be returning so he will go through the audition process and post more videos online to make sure he gets the part again.
Like a true coach, he left a message for High School Musical cast wannabes: "Don't doubt yourself. No one auditioning for HSM is any better than you are so why not just go for it. You might be EXACTLY what they are looking for and worst case scenario is that you went for! You took your shot! You can't say you didn't try. You will be a better person for going for it and you will probably have some good laughs getting it done. So have fun. Go for it. Let me see that Wildcat spirit and if you get the job we will hang out on set and eat all the free food you could ever imagine. GOOD LUCK!!!"
The comments cheered him as well for his audition, saying "Go get 'em coach!" or giving their opinion that there's a "need to cast at least one original member" or else it can't be called a "high school musical sequel." Some expressed their dream to be part of the cast too.
Disney officially announced early this year that there will be a High School Musical 4 and casting is underway, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie production opened an online casting call last April 18 that will run until May 2 as reported by the IB Times. Those interested to audition should be 14 to 17 years old, must download the Disney Applause App, and upload their audition video through it.
