"Sherlock" Season 4 is expected to provide answers from fans and viewers, especially after that ending in Season 3 and its Christmas special, "The Abominable Bride." One of the questions raised was the possibility that Moriarty (Andrew Scott) will be returning after seemingly dying in the last season.
Metro notes that Moriarty may be back from the dead as a zombie or there could be "a virus in the data." In the "Sherlock" special, however, Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) specifically mentioned that Moriarty is already dead.
"Of course he is dead, he blew his own brains out, no one survives that ... More importantly I know what he's going to do next," said Sherlock.
Another thing that fans and viewers want to know is whether Mary Watson will die in "Sherlock" Season 4. Den of Geek reports that Mary's death has been the talk of town since the character was introduced in previous seasons.
The official synopsis for "Sherlock" Season 4 also seemed to focus on John (Martin Freeman) and Mary's journey towards becoming parents. However, Steven Moffat's statements led many fans to believe that things are doomed for Mary in the upcoming season.
"John's got a wife and Sherlock likes her and isn't it adorable, and then it all goes to hell. Remember where we left them," said Moffat.
"Sherlock" Season 4 will also be introducing a new character named Passenger. James Holmes will be playing the said role and details about his character are yet to be revealed.
"Sherlock" Season 4 is expected to premiere around Christmas on BBC.
