Alligator Trying To Ring The Doorbell Caught On Video

A bystander caught on video an unusual visitor outside the doorway of the Moncks Corner home in South Carolina on Monday. The unexpected guest was an alligator trying to climb the door as if making an effort to ring the doorbell.

According to ABC News, Gary Rogers, the man who captured the alligator on tape, was walking his dog when he saw the reptile lingering around the area. The guy noticed that the creature "was not aggressive at all" as it was trying to "get over the fence and into this woman's pool in the backyard."

Gary Rogers added the alligator looked like it changed its mind as it made "its way to the house...up around the doorbell." Before that, he first saw the animal "walking around in front of a couple of houses down in the cul-de-sac area," KOMO added.

"So we went down. Took a couple videos. Got some good shots of him," Gary Rogers said. It was then he saw the alligator "trying to climb the fence a couple times." "[It] tried to climb somebody's door. It was pretty funny actually," he continued.

Gary Rogers explained that he's not actually living in the area and seeing an alligator wandering around was something unusual. Fortunately, Jamie Bailey, the homeowner, wasn't at home when the alligator visited their house, Time reported.

She was busy working when a neighbor texted her, saying an alligator was in front of her residence. However, Jamie Bailey thought she was being pranked and everything was a joke.

"And then they sent me the video front on and I was in disbelief," Jamie Bailey said. "Couldn't believe it. I mean who would have thought - an alligator!"

Jamie Bailey's neighbors clarified it is quite usual to see an alligator in the area as it is near the waterways of Foxbank Plantation. But an alligator knocking on a house door is pretty surprising.
