Lea Michele says addiction should not define Cory Monteith

Lea Michele opened up about some of the memories she says she will always remember about Cory Monteith in a recent interview with Seventeen.

The "Glee" star said she did not want Monteith to be defined by his addiction and shared that her late boyfriend had a unique way of making her feel special.

"I only have happy memories of Cory," she said. "He was not his addiction - unfortunately, it won. But that wasn't who he was. Cory made me feel like a queen every day. From the minute he said, 'I'm your boyfriend,' I loved every day, and I thank him for being the best boyfriend and making me feel so beautiful."

After the passing of 31-year-old Monteith, Michele threw herself into her work. She recently released an album that is packed with tracks to commemorate her late boyfriend. Before the release of her album, Michele told Seventeen that she wanted to continue her own journey while remembering the life of the fellow "Glee" singer and actor.

"My album is coming out on March 4 - which is bizarre like it's meant to be," she said. "Just think about it: We're going to 'March fo(u)rth.' We're going to March forth like a Cannonball. I try my best to march forth and live my life as best as I can for me. I also feel an incredible, happy responsibility to keep the memory and light of Cory, who was the most amazing person. I'm so happy to make it my journey now to continue on and live my life as best as I can."

The 27-year-old singer, who released her album "Louder" on Tuesday, told Good Morning America in an interview: "I'm really very, very, very thankful for all the amazing people I have in my life. I know that sounds like something everyone says, but honestly, my friends and my family, they got me through this and really, really have been there for me and I couldn't have done it without them."
