Neighbors 2 Star Seth Rogen On 2007 Superbad Film: Some Jokes Were "Blatantly Homophobic" [VIDEO]

Past mistakes can never be taken back but that doesn't mean they can't be atoned. In an interview with The Guardian to promote Neighbor's 2: Sorority Rising, Seth Rogen acknowledges his 2007 Superbad film had some super bad jokes that were offensive to the gay community.

According to The Independent, the Superbad movie had a total worldwide gross of $169 million that proves it had a massive reach, which probably are mostly teenagers who took its word as the Bible. The Short List says Seth wrote the screenplay with Evan Goldberg at the age of 13 when the jokes were funny but through the years of doing comedy, the actor realized that some or most just shouldn't have been said.

It's funny looking at some movies we've made in the last 10 years under the lenses of new eras, new social consciousness. There's for sure some stuff in our earlier movies - and even in our more recent movies - where even like a year later you're like 'Eh, maybe that wasn't the greatest idea,'" he says in The Guardian interview, alongside a nodding co-star, Chloe Grace Moretz.

"There are probably some jokes in 'Superbad' that are bordering on blatantly homophobic at times. They're all in the voice of high school kids, who do speak like that, but I think we'd also be silly not to acknowledge that we also were, to some degree, glamorizing that type of language in a lot of ways," Seth Rogen further details.

Good for the comedian who at 34 can already distinguish what's downright offensive from plain funny and incorporate it into his films.Neighbors 2: A Sorority Rising is like an ode to feminism and gender equality issues that still exist up to today.

"I think the Greek system seems a little sexist," Rogen said of the film's main topic. "The sheer fact that the women and the men don't have equal rights and opportunities, I think by definition makes it sexist, so that's something we talked a lot about while we were making this movie," Seth said in the interview.

Seth Rogens would be returning to the cast of Neighbors 2:A Sorority Rising as Mac, who is now a commited father to his daughter Stella but will have problems when a sorority moves in next door. Others stars are Chloe Grace Moretz and Zac Efron. The film will hit cinemas on May 20, 2016.
