Justin Bieber's DUI trial date has been pushed back yet again, this time to May 5. A hearing in Miami on Tuesday revealed that the pop star's court appearance, originally scheduled to begin March 3 is being postponed while his lawyers handled the release of police videos that showed him submitting to a urine test in a police station. Those videos were made public last week.
Since Bieber's arrest in January in Miami, this is the second time this push back has happened - it was originally set to begin on February 14 then was bumped to March 3.
The Florida case is charging the singer with driving under the influence, resisting arrest and possessing an invalid driver's license. Prosecutor Daniel Diaz-Balart also added at a brief hearing that no plea offer has been made for the 20-year-old, who had pleaded not guilty.
"All we're going to say is, we're going to prepare for a trial and that Mr. Bieber has pleaded not guilty," Bieber's attorney Roy Black told reporters, according to the Daily Mail.
Bieber and R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff were arrested Jan. 23 in Miami Beach after what police called an illegal drag race with high-end sports cars. Breath tests showed Bieber's blood-alcohol content was below the 0.02 limit for underage drivers. Other tests detected marijuana and Xanax.
Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield said Sharieff has a separate April 7 trial date on a DUI charge. He too has pleaded not guilty.
Also gaining media attention, Bieber gave a deposition last week for a lawsuit filed by photographer Jeffery Binion who claims he was roughed up and threatened by one of the singer's bodyguards. The video has been leaked all over the Internet, and Black is outraged by the lack of privacy.
"He has absolutely no privacy," Black said. "There's absolutely no protection for somebody like Justin."
