Health News & Updates: New Study Claims Melatonin As Cure For Eczema, Obesity And Insomnia

A new research stating that melatonin is promising enough to treat eczema, weight loss problems, and even insomnia is making rounds on the Internet on May 6. Different media outlets are publishing the many benefits of melatonin to the body and it would appear that it could also be used as a cure for some known health issues.

The Inquisitr reported that melatonin is becoming a trending topic that a lot of people have been doing their own research about it online. To prove this, over 685,000 searches were made last March of this year via Google's search engine by people intrigued about melatonin's benefits to their health.

Apparently, melatonin can cure eczema and GERD, especially in children. There have been people who testified on the great effect of melatonin on their child who once suffered from having eczema.

According to CBS Pittsburgh, experts sampled 50 children ranging from the age of 2 to 18 to be part of this experiment. All of them were suffering from eczema. Some of them were given melatonin while others had placebos in a form of a sugar pill. Scientists did this to see the effect of melatonin on their subjects.

Based on their observations, kids who were given melatonin went to sleep 21 minutes earlier than those who got the placebo pill. Melatonin was also able to alleviate their eczema while they were asleep and after they woke up.

Most of the time, the itchiness caused by the eczema is what keeps its victims awake. Scientists found out that children with eczema have low melatonin, which is the leading cause of their skin problem. Taking in melatonin has easily solved this issue.

As for weight loss, Psychology Today posted that melatonin acts as a special energy that burns fat more than the usual energy that people are using to lose weight. This research is making a lot of people hopeful on the many health benefits of melatonin.
