Having Trouble Getting Pregnant? Here Are 4 Infertility Misconceptions You Should Be Aware Of

Difficulty in conceiving a baby is possible to overcome. However, having infertility misconceptions can be a hindrance to overcoming this big problem. Here are some of the misconceptions about infertility that you should be aware of in order to improve your chances of getting pregnant.

1. Relax and be patient.

Couples who are too relaxed and spend several years waiting for a miracle might be wasting precious time. "It's generally recommended that you wait until you've been having regular unprotected sex (this means roughly 2 - 3 times a week) for a year before you visit your doctor for further investigation," Ask Baby suggests.

2. Just adopt a baby.

One of the biggest infertility misconceptions is that adopting a baby is an easy decision to make if a couple has fertility problems. "Before deciding to adopt, many couples go through a mourning period in which they grieve their imaginary biological child," Scary Mommy explains. "Most women also grieve being pregnant and breastfeeding."

3. It's better to remain childless because of overpopulation.

Everyone has a right to be a parent. Most people also have a desire to experience loving and caring for their own biological children. Overpopulation should never discourage responsible couples from trying and seeking suitable infertility treatments to have their own kids.

4. Trying to solve infertility is going against God's will.

Some misguided religious people discourage couples from seeking a solution to their fertility problem by telling them that doing so is fighting God's will for their life. It may be God's will for some people to lose their legs, but should they be discouraged from using prosthetics? Some medical interventions are heaven-sent.
