Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose debuted as the replacement singer of AC/DC during a concert on Saturday in Lisbon, Portugal. Because of his commendable performance in the recent gig, fans and music afficionados are expecting the band to have more concerts line up.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Axl Rose was actually late for five minutes for the concert but was able to fit well with the musicality of AC/DC. Axl Rose has been previously accused of being late to a concert of Guns N' Roses before because he wanted to finish the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie.
Despite missing a few minutes of the scheduled time of the concert, Axl Rose was able to compensate with his great performance during the show. Rolling Stone said Axl Rose's fractured leg and being bound to a chair did not affect, in any way, his voice and the way he sang the setlist for the concert.
Axl Rose gave justice to various AC/DC songs like "Rock or Bust,"Shoot to Thrill"and "Hell Ain't a Bad Place To Be." The same report added that he sounded really well in the company of bassist Cliff Williams, guitarists Angus and Stevie Young and drummer Chris Slade.
According to Gulf News, Axl Rose even showed a quite different personality for the concert where he opened with a "Nice to meet you" greeting. Axl Rose replaced Brian Johnson after the former AC/DC frontman stopped touring because of the fear that he could lose his sense of hearing completely. Rose said he was given a difficult task of stepping in for Johnson.
"He's a great singer," Axl Rose mentioned in the Gulf News report. "I'm just trying to do it justice for the fans."
Many fans appreciated Axl Rose's appearance as the singer of the band noting that he surely has the voice fit for AC/DC. "Axl Rose has a lot of respect for the group and he has the voice for it," 48-year-old Paulo Dias told Gulf News.
