Grandma Shoots And Kills Home Intruder Who Attacked Husband, Claims She Was 'Intent Upon Stopping Him'

An 80-year-old woman shot and killed an intruder who broke into their house in Sultan Washington. The suspect also reportedly assaulted the old woman's husband, prompting her to retaliate.

Fox News reported that Barb Moles aimed at a man who beat her husband using a crowbar and also stabbed him with a knife. She showed to the public that even aging individuals like her should never bee underestimated.

The great-grandmother explained that she only acted to save the life of her husband and that she only wanted to stop the intruder from causing more pain to husband Leland. "You know, never in my whole life did I ever anticipate having to take another life -- especially at age 80, she told Komo News.

Suspect Identified

Moles reportedly grabbed her .38 caliber gun after seeing her husband bloodied on the floor on the night of April 28. He was attacked by the suspect identified by authorities as Steven Sheppard, 25.

Because she worried so much about her husband, the grandmother of eight and great grandma of three shot on the suspect four times, hitting him thrice. She explained that she only wanted to stop the intruder.

"I was just intent upon stopping him," Moles told Komo News. "I didn't have any other thought in my head. I just knew I had to stop him."

Prescription Drugs As Target

According to Fox News, Sheppard has been previously jailed for a robbery offense. His desperate try landed Leland in the hospital where is already stable and recovering.

Investigation of the incident is still ongoing but Komo News claimed that the suspect could be targeting prescription drugs. Moles shared that her vitamins were all scattered on the floor when she discovered them.

The couple's daughter, Stacy Dobson tagged the incident as a "surreal" incident in their life. "But they're so wonderful. And they have a lot of good support," she said of her parents.

It seems as though home intruders are more rampant nowadays and citizens are no longer tolerating these crimes. Earlier this month, an 11-year-old boy shot a home intruder while he was home alone. Watch the report from NBC News in the video below:
