Kanye West was placed on two-year probation Monday following misdemeanor charges that stemmed from an altercation with a photographer last year, according to reports.
West, 36, was ordered to complete community service and anger management sessions after pleading no contest, a court spokeswoman confirmed.
The Grammy-winning rapper was not present at the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse; the contest plea was stated on his behalf by his attorney Blair Berk.
Daniel Ramos, the photographer involved in the incident, attended the hearing with his attorney, Gloria Allred.
In all, West was assigned 240 hours of community service and 24 anger management sessions. He will also be formally booked and will be required back in court for a restitution hearing July 17.
Ramos and West were involved in a brawl outside Los Angeles Airport (LAX) in July of last year. A video that captured the incident was posted by TMZ showing the rapper lunging at Ramos.
In the video, a photographer was heard shouting: "Kanye! Kanye! Talk to me, Kanye! Now come on, Kanye, I don't want to fight with you!"
To this West replied, "I told you, don't talk to me, right. You're trying to get me in trouble so I step off and have to pay you like $250,000."
West was then seen rushing toward the photographer in an attempt to wrestle his camera from his hands, retreating 15 seconds later.
The photographer told Judge Alan Rubin he wanted West to be thrown in jail.
"I was only doing my job, and he broke the law," he said. "I believe that if I did what he did to me, I would have been put behind bars."
