Chris Brown was ordered by a Los Angeles judge Monday to remain in jail until his probation hearing next month after he was kicked out of a Malibu rehabilitation center.
Brown, 24, was arrested last Friday after he was found in violation of his court-mandated stint in rehab related to his assault on now ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
The R&B singer's probation violation hearing is scheduled for April 23, on top of another case concerning a misdemeanor assault charge in Washington, D.C., for which his hearing is April 17.
The reasons for Brown's release from the Malibu rehab facility include inappropriately touching a female client on the elbow, initially refusing a drug test and making a provocative statement, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James Brandlin said. These are all in violation of house rules.
The judge noted that Brown said, "I am good at using guns and knives," during a group rehab session, as read from the center's official report.
This information troubled the judge greatly.
"I have concerns about his inability to stay out of trouble," Brandlin said before ordering Brown be held without bail, according to Reuters.
Brown's attorney, however, disagreed.
"None of these things rises to the level, in my humble opinion, to be remanded into custody," Mark Geragos argued. "He has the current prospect of sitting on ice for six weeks, which is longer than the standard probation violation."
Before the Grammy winner appeared in court, Geragos' request to have Brown change into a gray suit from his orange jumpsuit was denied. Brown had spent the weekend at Los Angeles County's aging Men's Central Jail.
In 2009, Brown was sentenced to five years probation, community service and domestic violence counseling after assaulting Rihanna in Los Angeles.
Due to Brown's jail time, the release of the singer's upcoming duet, "Don't Be Gone Too Long," with 20-year-old Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande has been delayed, Grande said on Twitter on Monday.
