Lady Gaga's SXSW performance glamorized eating disorders, argues Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato said she was offended by Lady Gaga's performance at SXSW, where a performance artist vomited on the pop star, saying it "glamorized" eating disorders.

"Sad ... As if we didn't have enough people glamorizing eat disorders already," Lovato, who in the past has battled eating disorders, wrote. "Bottom line, it's not 'cool' or 'artsy' at all."

Performance artist Millie Brown forced herself to vomit on the "Applause" singer onstage Thursday at the SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas. Gaga, 27, is known to go all out in the name of "art," but Levato did not see it that way.

"Putting the word ART in it isn't a free card to do whatever you want without consequences," the former "Camp Rock" star tweeted.

The singer continued her Twitter rant, saying: "Would you let someone bring a needle and shoot up on you? Addiction is addiction."

Levato, 21, checked into Timberline Knolls, located outside of Chicago, in 2010 to seek treatment for her eating disorder. It's the same facility that recently housed Ke$ha, who struggles with anorexia and bulimia.

Gaga's "little monsters" defended their idol, with one tweeting, "let it go you're making yourself seem like an attention wh--e." But that did not stop Lovato from voicing her beliefs.

"It's not 'shade' and it's not 'hate,'" she tweeted. "But someone has to come forward and say it and I'll take the heat for it."

Brown, the now infamous vomit painter, has defended the presentation.

"There's a clear difference between using my body to create something beautiful, to express myself and feel powerful, rather than using it to punish myself and conform to society's standards," Brown told TMZ.

Despite the backlash and offense by Lady Gaga's act, Lovato still remains a fan.

"Ps. I'm still a little monster myself," she concluded.
