3 Unusual Ways To Give Birth

Pregnancy's most awaited moment is the birth. Prior to the due date, it is advisable for mothers to already prepare for and plan the birthing process. Nowadays, choices of the delivery do not only involve picking a doctor or choosing the hospital. There are now more aspects that an expectant mother should consider.

Presently, women can opt for birth centers or home births aside from the hospital location. There are also additional prenatal and healthcare professionals who can assist in the pregnancy until birth like a doula or a midwife. There are more programs too that involve birthing partners like the spouse or a relative.

Giving birth in the hospital is the most common and highly expected choice by pregnant women, and the norms only get to decide between vaginal or cesarean section deliveries. Over the years, new methods have been introduced and here are three of the uncommon ways of giving birth that some mommies have already successfully tried.

1. Water Birth

Water Birth is a birthing process that happens in a pool of warm or body temperature water. Many choose to progress labor in the pool and move out for the delivery, but some choose to have both in the pool. Healthline cites that "Water births are not widely used in obstetric community, but are more accepted among midwives." They added, "Most water births are done at home, but some hospitals and birthing centers offer water birthing services."

2. Swing Birth

Swing birth is shared through LifeStyle.com.au, "Some women are opting to give birth in a swing - a contraption resembling two pieces of material suspended from the ceiling." The method allows the woman to go through labor while on the swing. It is ideal for women with weak belly muscles or debilitated back. The mother can give birth while being suspended from the ceiling and on the swing. There are still limited information and support about this method though.

3. Hypnotic Birth

Hypnotic birth, as the name suggests, uses hypnosis. This method of self-hypnosis helps women go through labor and delivery naturally by controlled breathing and replacing fear with relaxation. Women's Health writes, "The process of controlling your thoughts may help in dealing with the contractions better and create a more pleasant birthing experience."
