Dr. Jen Arnold's cancer diagnosis was played out on Tuesday night's episode of "The Little Couple."
The devastating news was first made public months ago, but viewers got a first-hand look at the moment when Arnold was first informed of the diagnosis last December.
Arnold was in India with her husband, Bill Klein, and son, Will, finalizing the adoption process of Zoey, when she started bleeding irregularly. After she got back from India to get treatment, the life-changing news was announced to the audience.
"While Bill was finishing up the adoption process with Zoey in India, I ended up going through multiple tests to find out why I'd been bleeding so badly in India. And it turns out I have a form of cancer called gestational trophoblastic neoplasm - stage three, which means that I had a rapidly growing tumor in my uterus," she revealed during the episode.
The situation escalated after doctors revealed that the cancer had spread, confirming that they had found three nodules in her lungs.
"When you first hear it, you hear 'cancer,' my heart sank. I felt nauseous," Arnold said. "I didn't have control. There's nothing you can do. It scares the hell out of you."
Arnold's cancer occurred after a failed pregnancy last fall and was made even more complicated by the fact that Arnold suffers from skeletal dysplasia - a form of bone-growth disorder.
Meanwhile, Kline has been by her side every step of the way.
"You don't need hair in order to look pretty," Kline told his wife. "You're perfect. I thought you looked cute. Now I can see your ears."
Arnold posted a photo of herself on Twitter with the caption: "Being bald is beautiful! #littlecouple."
