The "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff recently made some huge progress after months of speculations among fans and viewers. According to Entertainment Weekly, FX recently announced that Elgin James has been tapped to serve as co-creator for the show along with Kurt Sutter.

James will be responsible for writing the pilot script for the "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff. Sutter explained in a statement that their decision to get James as the show's writer and director comes with a lot of reasons.

"I wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice," said Sutter. "Because I didn't think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice."

Aside from this, the publication notes that James' past experience of serving a prison sentence from federal extortion may help the show bring out more of its perspective. James has also previously founded a street gang in Boston, which will largely benefit the making of the "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff.

Meanwhile, Inquisitr notes on the possibility that the "SoA" spinoff will see the return of its former cast members. According to the publication, the chances of seeing Charlie Hunnam or the previous Mayans MC members reprise their respective roles are slim.

Sutter previously shared in an interview that the "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff will hopefully stand on its own even without the original series. This might mean that the spinoff will feature new Mayans MC members, so fans will have to lessen their expectations of seeing Alvarez and the gang in the spinoff.
