The sex scenes in "Outlander" Season 2 is partly responsible for keeping the audience hooked to the Starz time traveler series aside from the show's wonderful storyline that's based on Diana Gabaldon's book "Dragonfly in Amber." The drama recently showed Jamie and Claire's first intimate scene since they traveled to France.
In a recent interview with Parade, Sam Heughan explained the importance of that sex scene between Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) while showing her baby bump, reports Scotland Now.
"Caitriona and I felt very strongly that we should see the bump," said Heughan. "It's very sexy."
The 36-year-old actor told the publication that the crew initially had their doubts over their suggestion. However, they were able to work on hiding the prosthetics from the audience in order to show the importance of that scene in "Outlander" Season 2.
"We rarely see women on camera who are pregnant having sex ... Their unborn child is the thing that reconnects Jamie and Claire," added Heughan.
In a recent interview with Balfe, the actress admitted that while and Heughan have a lot of sex scenes in "Outlander," there is very little chance for them to develop romantic feelings for each other, according to People. Balfe said that she and Heughan are simply acting.
"You know, I feel very lucky, Sam and I have an amazing bond, we're really great friends - but you know, it's acting," she said.
