Rapper Azealia Banks has again turned to social media to explain her racist comments against Zayn Malik and teenage actress Skai Jackson. She attacked the former One Direction singer for allegedly copying her idea of her music video for his "Like I Would" single.
On her Instagram account, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter gave racist comments to Zayn Malik because of the video ideas. "Damn Zayn be mood boarding the s**t out of me... I'm not mad about this though. Zayn is a cutie pie," Azealia Banks wrote for the caption of a collage comparison of some shots of their music videos.
Mirror said Zayn Malik did not directly reply to Azealia Banks' post but he tweeted with "No lies... I see you reaching but I don't care." After attacking Malik, the rapper poured her attention to Skai Jackson who tried to defend Zayn.
After her racist remarks, Azealia Banks now turned to Twitter to explain why she had to post such. She noted that her emotions pushed her to post the image along with the caption addressed to Zayn Malik.
"I said what I said to Zayn (Malik) because I was angry," Azealia Banks said. "He felt as if he was too good to acknowledge me yet not too good to copy me creatively."
Azealia Banks claimed that she hoped that it would be a good reminder for Zayn Malik that they belong in the same industry and "people of color." "No matter what you may think of yourself the world still sees you as 'other.' As they see me."
As for her comments on Skai Jackson, Banks said she knew it was the teenager's mom who was tweeting using the former's account. "I wanted to tell her mother that she's doing the most to try and forced this young girl out into the world by letter her wear weaves," added Azealia Banks.
Because of her remarks on Zayn Malik, Azealia Banks was dropped for the British musical festival where she previously secured a spot to perform, The Guardian said. Rinse FM explained that they had to cancel her appearance because the event is about "inclusivity and equality" where the rapper's comments certainly do not fit.
