Fans of the book series, "A Song of Ice and Fire" have been waiting for its sixth installment. The hype for "The Winds of Winter" has been growing for years, yet the book remains out of sight. However, according to reports, George RR Martin shares another chapter of "TWOW." Please proceed with caution as there may be some spoilers ahead.
George RR Martin Updates 'The Winds of Winter'
There is no doubt that many are waiting for the arrival of "The Winds of Winter" and the celebrity author is aware of this. In his blog, George RR Martin announced that he has a new sample for "Wild cards" and to appease "ASOIAF" fans, he also gives an update for "TWOW."
"And... because I know how much bitching I'd get if I offered a new sample from Wild Cards without also doing one from A SONG OF ICE & FIRE," George RR Martin wrote on his blog. "We've also changed the WINDS OF WINTER sample on my website, replacing the Alayne chapter that's been there for the past year with one featuring Arianne Martell. (Some of you may have heard me read this one at cons)."
For "The Winds of Winter" spoilers, George RR Martin teases about Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand and Darkstar. While the sample chapter for "TWOW" gives you a taste of the long overdue book, you will still need to wait for more.
Martin is generous in sharing sample chapters for "The Winds of Winter," however, this does not mean that the anticipated book is done. The author warns fans that he is still working on it. "And no, just to spike any bullshit rumors, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done. See the icon up above? Monkey is still on my back... but he's growing, he is, and one day," Martin wrote. You can read the sample chapter here.
'The Winds of Winter' Involves Too Many Characters That Are Dead In 'GoT'
Per IGN, the interesting part about the said "TWOW" chapter is that many of the characters are either dead or not part of "Game of Thrones." In the new "The Winds of Winter" chapter, it follows the perspective of Arianne Martell, the daughter of Doran Martell (already dead on the show). It tells her journey to meet Jon Connington (not in the show).
Martin told IGN earlier that there's a big twist in "The Winds of Winter" that can't be applied to "GoT" season 6 because it involved a character that is already dead on the show. The "TWOW" author already admitted that the "GoT" producers are more bloodthirsty than him.
"The Winds of Winter" is expected to arrive this month. However, with Martin's update, it is clear that the anticipated book is not coming out anytime soon.
