The third episode of "Game of Thrones" Season 6 saw Jon Snow (Kit Harington) finally sentencing his murderers Alliser Thorne and Olly to death by hanging. Unfortunately, Rickon Stark (Art Parkinson) was also brought back to Winterfell with the head of his direwolf Shaggydog as identification. But was that really Shaggydog? Some fans believe that Rickon Stark's direwolf is still very much alive in "Game of Thrones" Season 6!
Is Shaggydog Still Alive?
Some "Game of Thrones" fans were quick to point out that the head presented to Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) appeared too small to be an actual direwolf (check video below). The fans believe that Shaggydog is alive and well, and that Smalljon Umber plans to attack the Boltons once they are safely inside Winterfell. Once Ramsay Bolton is killed, Rickon Stark will be restored as the Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North in "Game of Thrones" Season 6.
Rickon Stark Confirms Shaggydog's Fate
The Shaggydog Theory was instantly shot down by "Game of Thrones" star Art Parkinson in an interview with Huffington Post. When asked whether Shaggydog is truly dead, Parkinson responded, "Uh, yeah, I'd say so." In addition to that, the young actor shared that "it was a little bit disappointing" that he wouldn't get to work with the dog that played the direwolf again.
Art Parkinson also admitted that he wasn't happy when he found out that Rickon Stark's beloved direwolf had met his end in "Game of Thrones" Season 6. "When I read that Shaggydog was dead, I was definitely a little upset," he stated.
Will The Umbers Betray The Boltons?
Art Parkinson was also asked if it is possible that Smalljon Umber had refused to "bent at the knee" because they were planning to go up against the Boltons in Winterfell in "Game of Thrones" Season 6. "Well, you know, the show is so full of twists and turns, so it is possible," the "San Andreas" star stated, adding, "It would be disappointing if Jon Umber did really betray us."
