Steven Spielberg leaves everyone in awe at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival with its latest creation, "The BFG (Big Friendly Giant)" on Saturday. The renowned director's take on Roald Dahl's creation promised to carry his known touch that children and adults will surely love.
Steven Spielberg described that his movie adaptation of "The BFG" is the closest to love story he ever made. "All of us have to believe in magic. The worse the world gets the more magic we have to believe in," the 69-year-old producer told the reporters at the film's screening, NDTV Movies reported. "That magic will give us hope and hope is everything for me," Steven Spielberg added.
"The BFG" tells the story of a girl named Sophie, who was kidnapped, by a giant from an orphanage to live with him in Giant Country. However, Sophie learned that the giant is a harmless creature who is only trying to save her from the bad giants called Bloodbottler and Fleshlumpeater. "The BFG" will reveal a good working combination of Steven Spielberg and its lead character, as per the Telegraph.
Mark Rylance, the Big Gently Giant himself, perfectly gives justice to his role by bringing everyone in a dream-like world. Steven Spielberg, on the other hand, added a touch of his childhood in "The BFG" with "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."
Steven Spielberg recalled that he used to watch meteor showers with his father. In fact, "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" was inspired by his "imaginary friends" as he was trying to move on from his parents' divorce.
Meanwhile, the latest movie teaser of "The BFG" revealed a massive world of the giants. The trailer teased everyone by showing a glimpse of the dangers in Giant Country, showing unfriendly big creatures and the adventure Sophie and the Big Gentle Giant will face together, io9 cited.
"The BFG" is set to be released on July 1 in the U.S.
