How Food Intake Affect Pregnancy?

Expecting moms usually watch their diet to avoid any hassle during their pregnancy. Many know what is healthy for their babies and what is not. However, there are still some who lack proper education on food intake during pregnancy.

Vogue said pregnant women should make some diet considerations while they are conceiving to remain healthy. Clean eating is advised for expecting mothers who are also encouraged to add more nutrients into their bodies through food.

It was noted that consuming beverages with artificial sweeteners can result to an overweight baby. Vogue also said that a child could also suffer lasting health effects because of excess sugar consumption of their moms during pregnancy.

Folic acid needed

According to FitPregnancy, women who are conceiving should have enough folic acid, ideally about 400 micrograms every day. Folic acid is said to be a great help for moms to avoid delivering their baby weeks before they are scheduled to give birth.

Consuming fish is also helpful since it aids in the brain development of a child and also provides better motor skills, vision and even language comprehension for children. Twelve ounces of low-mercury fish should be consumed weekly to have an abundant supply of omega-3 fatty acid.

Add more spices

It was added in the Vogue report that spices are good for pregnant women because it will expose the baby to different flavors. "Their sensory and brain development is geared toward this-babies are really open to learning about new foods," biopsychologist Julie Mennella said.

She also explained that it would be better for kids to be exposed to various flavors like vanilla and garlic to get accustomed to all kinds of tastes. The same report said this will also train kids to eat different kinds of food when they come out of their mother's womb and start eating table food.
