James Franco admitted he's guilty of "bad judgment" after trying to seduce a 17-year-old.
Franco, 35, engaged in a flirty exchange on Instagram with Scottish schoolgirl Lucy Clode after meeting her outside his Broadway show "Of Mice and Men."
For the first time, an embarrassed Franco addressed the accusations on "Live with Kelly and Michael."
"I was feeling awkward," Franco said. "I guess I'm just a model of how social media is tricky. It's a way people meet each other today."
He continued: "I used bad judgment and I learned my lesson."
Clode was celebrating her 18th birthday early in New York City and tagged Franco, upon his request, in the photo. Franco later grilled the teenager on her age, if she had a boyfriend and if he should "rent a room."
By the end of the interrogation, it seemed Clode had had enough.
"You sound so dodgy though," she responded, but not before saying, "One second, I will meet you if you write my name on a piece of paper then send it to me with your face also in the picture, please."
He was quick to do so.
Franco not only received flack online for the fiasco, but was the target of Clode's grandmother's wrath.
"It shows how little these famous actors know about normal people and how to behave. They're out of touch with reality," Beryl Sussex told MailOnline.
The conversation was leaked online Wednesday, and the "Oz the Great and Powerful" actor responded to the scandal by tweeting: "I HOPE PARENTS KEEP THEIR TEENS AWAY FROM ME. Thank you."
The debacle coincides with Franco's upcoming film "Palo Alto," in which his character starts an inappropriate relationship with his underage student, played by Emma Roberts. The film is set to hit theaters May 9, and some are asking whether or not this is all a charade to promote the film.
