Honey Maid responds to negative comments over pro-LGBT ad with 'love'

Honey Maid responded to negative comments regarding a pro-LGBT advertisement with a message of "love."

Nabisco's "This is Wholesome" ad for Honey Maid and Teddy Grahams featured a gay couple with their child, as well as interracial families.

On YouTube, the company wrote: "We made a commercial about what makes families, family. And we received a lot of comments. See what we did with them."

Two artists rolled the hateful messages into tubes and used them to spell out the word "love." The commercial ended with the message, "Proving that only one thing really matters when it comes to family...love."

Not everyone agreed with the graham cracker commercial, including the right-wing group One Million Moms, which was "highly offended" by the company's "disrespect of millions of American families by supporting the homosexual agenda," according to the Huffington Post.

"Nabisco should be ashamed of themselves for their latest Honey Maid and Teddy Graham cracker commercial where they attempt to normalize sin," the group added. "This commercial not only promotes homosexuality, but then calls the scene in the advertisement wholesome."

The American Decency Organization even went as far as to compare the company to Satan.

One Million Moms is known for boycotting JC Penney after the retail chain hired Ellen DeGeneres as its spokesperson in 2012.

The conservative talk show host Janet Mefferd joined the negative bandwagon, telling Facebook followers that she was "so done" with the brand, and "even more done with the constant onslaught from the Gay Propaganda Machine," according to Right Wing Watch.

Many consumers felt differently about the ad, however. In fact, so many commenters praised Honey Maid for "taking the high road" that the artists rolled up those notes too and completely surrounded the hateful ones. The video currently has over 1 million likes.
