"NCIS" Season 14 will be moving forward without Tony DiNozzo, as Michael Weatherly wrapped up his role as Tony DiNozzo in the Season 13 finale titled "Family First." Weatherly departed the series in what appears to be a shocking revelation to fans and viewers, reports Carter Matt.
In the "NCIS" Season 13 finale, Tony announced that he will be leaving his job. The episode is aptly titled because Tony decided to leave his job in order to focus on his daughter, Tila, after discovering that Ziva (Cote de Pablo) has died.
In a recent interview with executive producer Gary Glasberg with E! News, it was revealed that the team took months before they came up with a way for Tony to leave "NCIS." The showrunner shared that while Tony might feel frustrated that Ziva did not tell him about their daughter, in a way, Tony would still understand Ziva's intentions.
"And at the end of the day, look what she's given him," said Glasberg. "A new sense of purpose. A new chapter. A new beginning. A new love."
Glasberg also encouraged everyone to rewatch the "NCIS" Season 13 finale. Glasberg said that fans should "really watch and listen," especially Tony and Gibbs' final moment.
"In Gibbs' basement Gibbs and Tony agree on something very important, 'You gotta do what you gotta do. And you gotta believe what you gotta believe,'" he said.
Does this mean Ziva is still alive? Find out when "NCIS" Season 14 premieres in late September on CBS.
