Celine Dion Opens Up After Death Of Husband And Brother: 'I Lost The Love Of My Life'

For the very first time, Celine Dion opens up since her husband, René Angélil, and brother, Daniel Dion, passed away because of cancer. In an exclusive interview with a magazine, she reveals how she copes with the loss of the love of her life.

Her Children Became Her Strength

Celine Dion sat down with PEOPLE for its cover story to share how life has been since husband René Angélil passed away four months ago. While everything has been so hard, she found solace in her three children.

"My boys give me so much strength," Dion told the magazine in this week's cover story. She has three children with René Angélil; René-Charles, 15, as the eldest and followed by twin boys, Nelson and Eddy, both 5.

To explain her husband's death to her children, Celine Dion turned to Pixar's film "Up." "I did not want to relate the passing to doctors and have them be afraid," she explained.

Meanwhile, Celine Dion's youngest sons are keeping her busy after the funeral. Each of the twins wants to try different things, like piano and gymnastics. She laughed off describing how the two can want different things at the same time.

To Die In Her Arms

More so, the French-Canadian singer talked to ABC News' Deborah Roberts about how she wished things could have ended differently, NY Daily News added. "He wanted to die in my arms, I cannot live with a regret but this I do," she told Roberts during Wednesday night's "Nightline."

"He did not die in my arms but I think he died in my heart," Celine Dion trailed off. The "My Heart Will Go On" singer is trying to let go of the pain of not fulfilling the last wish of her husband. However, she tries to find a reason to move on.

The couple first met when Dion was an aspiring 12-year-old singer. He later became her manager. René Angélil died on Jan. 14 after a long battle with cancer, CNN added.

Tragedy Struck Once Again

However, just two days later, Celine Dion's brother, Daniel, lost his life to cancer as well. Daniel passed away on René's birthday.

"For his birthday, my husband came and got my brother, because my brother was too weak to fly on his own," she said. Recovering from the loss of her husband and brother is still a long way to go, she admitted.

Celine Dion is expected to take the stage at Sunday night's Billboard Music Awards. She will be singing a cover of Queen's "The Show Must Go On." She will also receive the Icon Award. Check out the interview with ABC News on the video below:
