'The Good Wife' Spin-Off: The Return Of Diane Lockhart And Lucca Quinn Will Be In The Works

CBS recently released its 2016-2017 TV schedules in New York on Thursday. It looks like CBS's online streaming service, CBS All Access, will produce "The Good Wife" spinoff setting the return of the favorite wives.

BBC received a confirmation that CBS is about to launch "The Good Wife" spinoff in spring 2017. The upcoming show doesn't have an official title yet, but it is set to open in CBS's online streaming subscription service, CBS All Access.

Hence, fans of "The Good Wife" will see the return of Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo). To recall, "The Good Wife" final episode was recently aired after swirling in the airwaves after seven seasons.

Christine Baranski has been in "The Good Wife" as Diane Lockhart for the entire seven seasons. Cush Jumbo, on the other hand, lately joined in the final season as the lawyer Lucca Quinn.

Cinema Blend reported in the final episode of "The Good Wife," Alicia (Julianna Margulies) ruined her friendship with Diane to save Peter (Chris Noth) from being jailed. Alicia exposed that Diane's husband is having an affair with another woman that caused the latter to hit her so hard.

In order to pick up the pieces of the last episode and to continue in "The Good Wife" spinoff, the new show will go back to Diane's past story to be able to bring her to the new settings. It is quite assumed that the "The Good Wife" spinoff will have new characters to introduce, so it will be a different world.

The Executive Vice President and General Manager of CBS Digital Media Marc DeBevoise explained that the decision to create "The Good Wife" spinoff is "data-driven." "The Good Wife" has been one of the most sought after television shows of CBS that have been continuously watched online, as per Engadget.

"The Good Wife is consistently one of our most-watched series across digital platforms," Marc DeBevoise said. "This new series, with the incredible storytellers and marquee talent that have signed on, is a perfect addition to CBS All Access's original programming slate."
