The fans of "A Song of Ice and Fire" have been waiting for the arrival of its sixth book. Earlier reports claimed that "The Winds of Winter" would be out this month. To end the release date rumors, George RR Martin has finally spoken up.
'The Winds of Winter' Will Not Be Available In May
There are rumors that "The Winds of Winter" is coming out this month. Fans who have been waiting for the book for over four years now are very excited for its arrival. Unfortunately, George RR Martin has already spoken up and cleared that "TWOW" is still in the works.
Parent Herald previously reported that George RR Martin shared a new chapter of "The Winds of Winter" with several characters that are not on "Game of Thrones." The said chapter featured the point of view of Arianne Martell.
On the said post, he said that the edited chapter will be a good teaser for "The Winds of Winter" and clarified the he is not done with the overdue book, yet. "You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest will be up to in WINDS OF WINTER? Quite a lot, actually. The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait," he wrote on his blog.
"And no, just to spike any bullshit rumors, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done. See the icon up above? Monkey is still on my back... but he's growing, he is, and one day...," George RR Martin added.
One fan clarified the release date to "The Winds of Winter" author by writing "So just to clarify. The rumors of the novel being edited by your publishers and due out by the end of May are complete crap, correct?" To which George RR Martin replied with, "Complete crap, yes. Who makes up these stories? "
More Deaths In 'The Winds of Winter'
Meanwhile, Yibada reported that there will be more deaths in "The Winds of Winter." This report springs from George RR Martin's interview with Galaxys Edge, where he was asked how he used the death in his books. The author of "The Winds of Winter" explained that he uses death to tell the truth.
He explained that as a fantasy author, he has an obligation to tell the truth and writing about war and violence are impossible without death. While most stories spare the hero and his family from the pangs of death, in reality, it affects them. So George RR Martin wants to show this in his works, especially in "The Winds of Winter."
"That's such a cheat. It doesn't happen that way," George RR Martin said about always saving the hero in the story. "They go into battle and their best friend dies or they get horribly wounded. They lose their leg or death comes at them unexpectedly."
Do you agree that deaths are necessary in George RR Martin's genre? Who do you think will die in "The Winds of Winter?" Will there be a resurrection in the next the way Jon Snow returns in "The Winds of Winter?" Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
