Singer-songwriter Prince may have been dead about six hours before he was found unresponsive inside an elevator at Paisley Park. The pop star had a sudden death which many of his fans did not foresee.
Star Tribune said that accounts from the responding medical team and policemen detailed that the "Purple Rain" singer was already dead hours prior to the discovery of his body. A week before his death, Prince reportedly had an emergency treatment for opioid overdose.
It was also noted that he became distressed in the days that followed. He was also reportedly given intravenous treatment a day before he died at a local hospital though the reason for the treatment was not revealed.
Sought assistance
His representatives also decided to seek the assistance of pain and addiction specialist Dr. Howard Kornfeld to help Prince with his health issues. Kornfeld, however, was not able to immediately go to Prince because of his schedule prompting him to send his son Andrew to the singer.
Andrew, who is a pre-med student, was among the first people who discovered Prince inside the elevator. He was supposed to calm him and bring the artist to his father in Mill Valley, California.
Carrying buprenorphine
According to an earlier Oregon Live report, Andrew was carrying in his backpack the prescription drug buprenorphine when he went to see Prince. People questioned the legality of carrying the drug especially that Kornfeld's son was not yet authorized to carry it since he is not yet a doctor.
Though the investigation on his death continues to have useful results, CNN said that the toxicology results and autopsy reports have not yet been released. People have expected these to come out sooner but no date has been set for the release. These results are said to be the key to discovering what really happened to Prince.
