EgyptAir MS804: Parents Killed In Crash Leave 3 Kids Behind; Orphans Expected Them At The Airport

Three children under the age of six are now without any parents. Their mom and dad were in that ill-fated EgyptAir MS804 plane from Paris that crashed on May 19 at the Mediterranean Sea. Their kids had been waiting for the parents at the Cairo International Airport on the day they were supposed to arrive home.

The Telegraph reports that the couple, Ahmed and Reham Ashery, flew to Paris and stayed in the country for a month for Reham's cancer surgery and recovery. Their kids, a boy and two girls, were left to the care of Ahmed's mother.

Before their flight back to Egypt, Ahmed called his family to say that they were excited to return home and be with the kids again. But this never happened as their plane went missing on the radar. The kids were waiting for their parents at the airport and were "inconsolable" upon learning of EgyptAir MS804' status, per Daily Mail. "The situation is very unfortunate and grievous," remarked a friend of the family.

When Reham, 27, learned of her cancer diagnosis, her husband, Ahmed, 31, had to sell everything and use their savings for her treatment in France. Some of Ahmed's friends convinced him not to travel to Paris anymore, but he wanted to ensure that his wife gets the best treatment. It turned out to be a success, hence the couple was looking forward to returning home and living life normally with their growing children. The doctors gave the couple an all-clear before they bought a flight back home.

In recent reports, part of the plane's wreckage has been discovered, but submarines have been deployed to look for the rest EgyptAir MS804, per CNN. No bodies have been found so far and there were supposed to be 56 passengers and 10 crew on board.

The cause of the crash is still unknown at this point, but smoke was apparently detected from the plane minutes before it dropped off the radar. However, this doesn't necessarily mean there was fire inside the plane. The data was sent automatically through the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System and investigators are still looking into this further.
