Adele sets a new record in British music history by securing a £90m contract with Sony records. The "Hello" hitmaker is about to sign the new record deal in the coming weeks after her agreement with XL Recordings ends this year.
According to The Guardian, the second largest music label in the world, Sony Music, quickly approach Adele after her deal with the British Independent recording, XL, expires. Ninety million pound or about $130 million is the biggest amount offered for a British musician in history.
"The deal is being worked on by our Columbia label in the US but is worth £90 million," a source from Sony said, The Sun reported. "And gives Sony the rights to release her future music exclusively around the world."
The source added that the negotiation between Adele and Sony Music has been quietly dealt by her manager Jonathan Dickins for a long while now, Sky News cited. Adele now tops the £80 million record deal of Robbie Williams with EMI in 2002.
Adele also surpasses Whitney Houston's £70 million contract with Arista in 2001. From the Sunday Times Rich List, as published by The Sun, her asset is already worth a whopping £85 million.
Adele's new deal, on the other hand, with Sony Music might make her riches two-fold. It has been known "Rolling in the Deep" singer is dubbed as the best-selling artist in the world in 2015 and gets over £35 million or almost $51 million record sales with her new album, "25."
The mother-of-one's "25" effortlessly give life to the dying record sales in the world by selling more than 19 million copies worldwide. Evidently, Adele is continuously dominating the music scene as she recently called the Top Artist and wins four major awards at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.
