Popular journalist and TV host Lisa Ling has been involved in many heroic activities around the globe, but there's thing she's afraid of - giving birth and taking care of the baby.
This is the first child for the 39-year-old "Our America with Lisa Ling" host with her husband of five years, physician and biotech film president Paul Song.
"I'm finally going down this road and it's scary," the expectant mom told People magazine at the Women's Media Center's 2012 Women's Media Awards last week. Ling and her sister Laura were present at the function to receive the "sisterhood is powerful" award.
The mom-to-be was reportedly scared of the changes that her baby girl will bring in her life.
"I'm really excited but more nervous than anything," six-month pregnant Ling told People. "I'm nervous about all of it. I'm nervous about how my life is going to completely change. I'm nervous about how I'm going to actually carry the baby. I'm nervous about changing diapers. I'm not someone who likes to be nervous. I'm someone who is always in control."
However, Ling, who experienced a miscarriage earlier in 2010, is very excited about her impending motherhood.
"But I feel very fortunate," she said. "My husband [Paul Song] and I are very, very lucky that this is even happening. I'm really excited about investing our emotion and love in another person. I'm finally ready for it."
Ling, who started her career as a teen, is widely known as a host of National Geographic Explorer, co-host of ABC's "The View" and special correspondent for "The Oprah Winfrey Show".
