Action-adventure game "Mirror's Edge" is coming soon on television with a female-centered theme. The announcement came days before the release of the game's newest installment.
Deadline reported that Endemol Shine Studios acquired the right to adapt "Mirror's Edge on Television." Endemol president Sharon Hall said they are positive about the outcome of this adaptation.
"We clearly see Mirror's Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience," Hall added. "It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing."
When the game becomes a movie, it is expected to retain its futuristic environment with characters acting as couriers who transmit messages without being detected by the government. The main character of Mirror's Edge is Faith, a female warrior who is fighting for justice for his sister who was framed for murder.
According to IGN, Mirror's Edge is another adaptation of a video game this year. Some of the earlier releases included Angry Birds, Ratchet & Clank and the upcoming Warcraft movie. It added that the Assassin's Creed will also have a film adaptation by the end of 2016.
The announcement of the planned adaptation of Mirror's Edge for television came a few days before the scheduled release of the game's newest installment "Mirror's Edge Catalyst." This will come out on June 7 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC users.
The trailer of the game, as per ComingSoon, shows Faith and her adventures to fight for the city of Glass. The community is a broad area where Faith tries to unravel the secret it is hiding.
Players of Mirror's Edge can practice martial arts and other combat strategies using their characters. They can also go around various parts of the city to unlock various locations and explore more areas.
