Finnish Education: Know the Reason Why Play is Prioritized on the Finnish Education System

Finnish educational system is known as one of the best in the world. What made them progress compared to the others is the way they value play.

Finnish school officials and teachers shared the most important method that they incorporate into their students' daily routine. Collective Evolution highlighted that the educational sector of the Finnish government focused on the benefits of playtime among their students.

Known as one of the best places to educate the child, the Finnish educational system exhibits low amount of students who experience anxiety and stress despite their educational workload. It was mentioned that play is essential for their growth as an individual, thus the Finnish educational system seldom give out home works.

MBC Times gave Finland the 5th spot for the countries with best educational system for 2016. It was mentioned that one of the best technique in giving out quality education is the fact that young children are not given any homework, instead, they were tasked to play and explore the world after school.

Smart Parenting gave out several facts as to why the Finnish education is one of the most effective among the rest. It was mentioned that letting the children start school at a later age is the fact that they can focus on play. Thus, children below the age of seven should not go to regular school yet.

They emphasize the value of play, wherein children in elementary schools are given 75 minutes of recess per day in order for them to play.

The extended recess time gives the children to unwind as play. Unlike normal schools with limited recess minutes, most kids can no longer play as they would spend most of their time eating.
