Netizens Blast Parents Of Boy Who Destroys 'Zootopia' Lego Display At Exhibit Opening

A "Zootopia" Lego display was shattered to pieces during an exhibit opening in China last Sunday. Visitors were only able to see the remarkable Lego creation for an hour before a little boy managed to knock it down to pieces. Netizens are now blasting the boy's parents for their neglect.

What's On Weibo reports that the Lego sculpture of Nick the Fox from "Zootopia" was put together by Mr. Zhao, a professional artist, for three days. The value of the creation, which stands at 1.8 meters, was pegged at $15,000 and it was set up at the Wanda Plaza in Beijing for its visitors.

The "Zootopia" Lego display was only blocked off by velvet ropes, as it usually is in exhibits. There was also a "no touching" sign next to it. But a 4-year-old breached this because he wanted a photo with the Disney character. However, he also tried climbing on the sculpture, and that's when the Lego display fell to the ground. According to Time, the Lego pieces were only partially glued, so it easily shattered. Rebuilding it would take another few days.

The boy's parents have already apologized to Mr. Zhao, who fortunately didn't take it out on the child and understood that accidents can happen. The Shanghaiist reports that Mr. Zhao isn't seeking any compensation for the damage. But the incident and photos are already going viral on the Chinese social site, Weibo.

Netizens castigated the parents of the boy for not properly looking after their toddler. "It was the father's fault not to teach," said one Weibo user, per Daily Mail. Another user said that he won't hesitate to beat the child so that he would behave.

Netizens also said they would have asked for compensation from the parents if they were the sculpture artist as a strong reminder that they should discipline their child. Mr. Zhao apparently posted a message on the social site thanking the public for commending his work and for their sympathies. But he also said that he's certain the parents have already drawn a valuable lesson from the incident.
