The success of "Avatar" has spawned several sequels. Unfortunately, it has been six years and counting and "Avatar 2" is still a no-show and according to new reports, the wait will be longer because it was further pushed back. Is "Avatar 2" coming or not?
'Avatar 2' Delayed Again
Initially, "Avatar 2" was slated for release in the holidays of 2017. However, "Star Wars Episode 8" was also scheduled at the same time. Since then, we learned that "Avatar 2" was pushed back.
According to MNR Daily, "Avatar" is pushed back to a May 2018 release instead of a December 2017 release. While it's just a five-month delay, new reports suggest that "Avatar 2" is pushed back again, making "Avatar" fans wait for a year of delay.
Master Herald reported that the anticipated "Avatar" sequel would be released in December 2018. Is "Avatar 2" delayed due to its production or does it avoid competition? It seems that James Cameron doesn't want his film to be out on the same date of other big movies like "Star Wars."
'Avatar 2' Delayed Due To Massive Cinematic Process
Well, although it is disappointing to learn that the release date of "Avatar 2" has been pushed back every now and then, many believe that James Cameron did it for a reason. Director Cameron already hinted that they would be embarking a huge cinematic process.
"We have decided to embark on a truly massive cinematic process," James Cameron told the Hollywood Reporter. "We began to bump up against the limitations of our art form."
Cameron explained that has been working on "Avatar 2" and the rest of the sequels altogether. In the same interview, he announced that the "Avatar" sequels are expanded to four. "Avatar 2" is slated for Christmas 2018 release, and the next sequels will follow in 2020, 2022 and 2023.
Will "Avatar 2" be available by Christmas 2018 or will it be pushed back again? What do you think is main reason James Cameron keeps on pushing back the sequel is it because production is not done and he missed his target date or he wants to avoid competition?
